Nashville gave us a sunny but brisk welcome!  Donna and I headed out of Carterville about 9:30, leaving Romeo watching from the living room window and us headed south.   Our escape route from winter was directly into colder temps (19 to 21 degrees all day) and snow flurries in Paducha and Nashville.

The Capitol Hotel was very welcoming, as there were only 11 check-ins that day, and they parked out luggage until the room was ready and we headed down the street (on foot...) to tour music city...   The bars and clubs were in full swing on Broadway, which fortunately was downhill and down wind from the hotel.   This was not an advantage when heading back in the late afternoon.

We stuck our heads in to a couple places, looking for food as well as a brew.  The Tin Roof had entertaining guys onstage so we listened to a couple tunes and then headed further down towards 2nd street where we found Margueritaville at 4th street.   Our corner seat gave us a nice spot for people watching and the waitress filled us in on restaurants and pubs for later in the day.

Next stop was the Johnny Cash Haul Museum, just down on 3rd street.  The gift shop had everything you would expect, from stickers and shirts to a custom motorcycle brightening up the front window.   We went on into the museum, looking at the memorablia.   Shirts, hats, guitars, June Carter Cash's dresses, awards and movie posters.

There are two screens there.  The first we watched a 30 minute documentary of Johnny's movie and TV appearances.  Lots of things I hadn't seen before.  He had a pretty successful screen career in addition to his music.  The other screen was playing his tribute to the American flag.   Always a favorite.

Next on out tour was a walk up 2nd Avenue with more pubs and clubs.  This section didn't have as many venues open with entertainment this early in the day.  We decided to head to Painter's Alley and stopped at the tourism office to check out bus tours.   That will be this afternoon when we are going to spend a few hours in a nice warm vehicle, picking us up right here at the hotel.
We ended our afternoon with a review of the menu at Dana's with a plan to get there this evening.   The last few blocks back to the hotel was painful...  Temperatures continued to fall and the wind continued to pick up.  We struggled uphill and into the lobby, deciding to order dinner delivered to the room.
Nashville is plenty colorful, but single digit temps really hinder enjoying as much of the scene as we had hoped.  Will recap after today, and hopefully more photos.
